Considering individual lessons for your child or yourself?
If your child is between the ages of 3 and 6, Suzuki Method instruction is the best way to begin an instrument, but older students can also benefit from Suzuki Method study. The Symphony School offers Suzuki instruction in violin, viola, harp, and piano.
The Suzuki Method is successful largely because of parent involvement in lessons and at-home practice. Parents are not required to have a musical background, as Suzuki teachers are trained in parent education and there are many opportunities for parents to meet with teachers and families. The Symphony School’s Suzuki program is a community in which you and your child can work together as a team to learn skills that your child will use and cherish for the rest of his or her life.
Each student receives a weekly individual lesson with an experienced Suzuki instructor. Weekly group class is also an essential component of the Suzuki Method.
Suzuki lesson length
Pre-Twinkle through Book 1: 30 minutes
Books 2 and 3: 45 minutes
Book 4 and up: 60 minutes
Symphony School Coordinator Karen Liegl places families with teachers. Please let her know if you have a teacher preference. Please see our complete instructor listings and faculty biographies.
Students studying violin, viola, harp, and piano are encouraged to register for group classes in addition to their private lessons at the Symphony School. Suzuki-based group classes offer many benefits for all students, including the opportunity to improve and reinforce skills learned in lessons as well as the exceptional experience of making music with others and participation in performance opportunities.
